OLIVE & SINCLAIR CHOCOLATE

After meeting Scot, I really wanted to make a video documenting the process behind his artisan chocolate... but looks like Josh Anderson has beat me to it! Check out this video if you're curious about what goes on in Olive & Sinclair Chocolate... and be sure to give Olive & Sinclair chocolate a try. You can find it in Whole Foods, and several coffee shops in Nashville, Atlanta, and LA.

CLEVE EATON

Wanted to share a couple of out takes from a recent shoot with Birmingham's Cleve Eaton. This guy has some legit stories. He's played with Sammy Davis Jr., Frank Sinatra, the Temptations, and the Ike Cole Trio. These photos were taken a couple of days after he finished up a round of treatment for oral cancer, and a day after he had buried his daughter. Definitely a powerful presence, and a joy to work with.

FILM

A lot of photographers that I talk to tell me that they are thinking of giving film another try. I never gave film a try in the first place- digital was readily available, and sped up the learning process for me. Recently I've gained an interest in learning everything I can about film. I carry a T4 with me at all times, and now I've had a chance to shoot on a 4x5 system.

The tilts, shifts, swings, rails, etc... are all very new to me, and I'm loving it. The quality of these instant shots are insane to me. Fuji still makes instant film that fits backs for these cameras, which is great for someone like me who has no clue what they're doing. I metered these on a 5D and hoped for the best. I've got a few other shots to scan in, but this is what I have so far. Many thanks to everyone that helped out in this little project.

TAYLOR HICKS

A couple weeks back I was asked to shoot an editorial piece on Taylor Hicks. We were given the opportunity to shoot in Marilyn Monroe's 1962 Chrysler 300. It was fairly intimidating to work around a car of such value... 4,900 original miles, original paint, and an original owner that is fairly well known. Living in Nashville has given me access to more rental equipment, and I really enjoyed my first shoot with these hot lights. The color temperature was easy to balance with my strobes, and they added just enough warmth for my taste. These are just a couple of previews- I won't be able to release the final images for a few months. Enjoy!
